Written Guide

This is a thank-you video, recorded in the glow of watching Trixel Rocket's downloads climb - but it also carries real information: an important note for players who hit the rocky first version, a preview of what is coming next, and credit to the people who helped ship the game.

If your first experience was rough, try again

Apple released the game a day early, and the improved build that was still in review did not make it into that initial release. The result: the first wave of players got a version that was harder and rougher than intended. The fix is already live - version 1.1 is a lot easier than the original download - so if the game frustrated you at launch, it deserves a second chance in its patched form.

What is coming next

The update pipeline is active: more levels, more ships, and changes aimed at making the game more fun and exciting. Game tips will also start appearing on social media - short pointers to help players get through the game a little more easily. And beyond this game, plans are forming for a follow-up in the same genre and style - a little bit different, but cut from the same cloth.

The people behind the game

Trixel Rocket is a solo indie passion project, but not a solitary one. A shout-out goes to the friends who helped on the back end of the game, and a special one to Louis Thompson, who created every sound effect and all of the music in the game. His composition work took the game to another level, and everything you hear in it is his.

The ask

For a solo dev with no publisher, players are the marketing department. The requests are simple: keep sharing the game, post reviews - great ones if it earned them - and let other people know it exists. Watching people download, play, and review something you built is the payoff of the whole journey, and every share extends it.

Underneath all of it is the point the video keeps coming back to: watching people download, play, and post reviews for something you built has been an incredible experience. This game is a passion project from a solo indie dev who loves it enough to keep improving it - and the players showing up are what make that sustainable.
